Personal Work
In this series of photographs I confront the tension between participating in the capitalist model and my personal desire to live sustainably. Through this work I explore the ramifications of a modern industrial society that rewards egocentric and selfish behaviors at the expense of communal well being. I want to bring to light of one’s complacency in a structure of survival that condemns one's own health, the natural world, and humanity creates a contradictory state of being in which one’s life depends on the elimination of all other life. These are portraits of that personal struggle. I am concerned with how our insatiable society, and it's daily seemingly mundane decisions, can impact the world as a whole.
